I probably haven’t waxed poetical about Sherlock quite as much on here as I do on social media, but suffice it to say, it is one of my favorite shows. It would be my favorite favorite show if it came on more often.
Tonight at 8 p.m. a special Sherlock is premiering on PBS with a Victorian setting based on accounts though I feel it may be a bit more ironic than that…I’ve avoided reading too much about it so I wouldn’t find out any secrets. I can confirm there is Victorian era garb at least.
Anyway, my husband and I are celebrating with a Sherlock party! We skipped having a New Year’s Eve party for a Sherlock night for two with a pretty decent, albeit totally easy to prepare meal using lots of prefixed elements.

We are cooking the cornish hens in our Black and Decker crock pot that doubles as a roast/bake pan among other things. They are the first meat only dish we have prepped in the cooker and the first hard-core baking we have done it.
For snacks, we have opted for New Year’s Eve leftovers like these homemade peanut butter balls.
Peanut butter fudge is also on the dessert menu.
When we had Cornish game hens over Thanksgiving, we prepped a lot of vegetables the old fashioned way, but we decided to have Green Giant steamers this go around. They are just as good as fresh when they come out of the steamer bags and the sauce gives them a little something extra.
In one last nod to the carbohydrate overload of the holidays, we are going to splurge with King’s Hawaiian savory butter rolls that will go well with the meal while also providing easy fix sandwiches for our cornish game hen leftovers tomorrow.
